JESUS IS COMING: LOOK BUSY!

This old joke says a lot about time management.  There is a big difference between being busy and looking busy!

When we think about it, we know that we could be using our time better.  Unless we are monster work-a-holics that crank out work 24/7, we know we could focus better, handle interruptions better, and be much more productive.  So how?

Here’s how: Answer these three questions:

ONE: WHAT IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE USE OF MY TIME RIGHT NOW?

Answer that and go with your answer!  you could be mowing the lawn or washing your car (8 dollar an hour jobs), or you could be planning your next info product, which pays hundreds of dollars.  Be specific, and write down your daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and 5 year goals and go for it.

TWO: WHAT IS THE PAYOFF OF THIS ACTIVITY?

Do only the activities that contribute to the accomplishment of your goals!  You have a goal staring you in the face.  You do if you have written your goals and they are taped to the wall.  Posting on Facebook is not one of them.

THREE: WHAT CELL AM I IN?

This refers to a chart developed by Dr. Merrill Douglas:

IMPORTANT

U                            YES                                   NO

R       YES           1 CRISIS                       3 TRIVIAL

G

E         NO            2 NOT HAPPENING  4 WASTE

N

T

Important needs to be done.  Urgent might not be so important.  If you constantly pay attention and attend to the urgent and neglect the important, you have your priorities misplaced.  If something is important but not urgent, cell 2, it is often ignored by many people.  But they should really focus there to be more productive. (more tomorrow.)
