 Your goal is to become a positive presence in your customers’ everyday lives. But don’t mail them the same offer over and over. You can mail a second time if you think they missed it the first time. But you do not want to be trying to ram something down their throat or threaten them to act now or be doomed to hell. Instead, offer them only good products with good follow up letters and occasional letters asking for feedback. Unadvertised bonuses, membership programs that provide consistent huge value, your own focus on new and better products, and a search for specific products that match the focus of your own products.

If you don’t bother to become a presence your list anticipate, the following might happen.

Here’s the actual email I recently received:

Hello friend,

I’m sending this message because within 
the last two years you opted into one of 
my websites about Internet Business and 
Marketing.

Beginning January 31, I will be discontinuing 
email marketing.  I believe email is no 
longer a cost effective means of marketing.

Our email auto responders – both stock and 
customized messages converted poorly.  And 
as my list grew into the thousands, email 
marketing fees became significant.Therefore 
because of the practically nil conversion 
rates an email marketing spend is not justified.”



What principal of internet marketing did he forget? He forgot to build and nurture the relationship with his list. Sure, he build a huge list. But it was very unresponsive and ultimately unprofitable!

Everyone has problems. That is why your customers are coming to you. They have problems. They are looking for solutions. As entrepreneurs, we thrive on problem solving. Hassles are great because the more problems we have, the more opportunities we also have to provide solutions…which make us money! Entrepreneurs are flexible, adaptable, resilient. We have to be!

 Solve their problems by being consistent with your delivery. Be frequent. If you used to have a favorite TV show, you looked for it at a certain time. It didn’t just pop up randomly. Same with your magazine subscriptions. They come like clockwork, the same time every month. You too should strive for consistency. Email 3 times a week, and stick with it.

 Remember we are never out of excuses! I don’t know of many races that procrastinators win. They have a unique problem: As Leslie Nielsen put it, “Doing nothing is very hard to do…You never know when you’re finished!” Don’t be one of those who work at doing nothing. And never forget, there is a big difference in ACTION, ie a flurry of activity, and RESULTS, something that puts money in your pocket.

Be Clear, Stand Out: Become a Fresh Voice

First,  you must let your personality shine.  Make your customers see who you are.  Be yourself, and emphasis your strong points.  Your customers are going to buy from someone they know long before they buy from someone they don’t know from Adam.

Focus on what is unique about you and your services.  What exactly is unique about your products?  Think about the way most marketers do things and do things differently, your way!  Emphasize your personal strengths so that you stand out and your customers come to know you.  you want them to look forward to your communications.  So give them something to look forward do!

But be careful; there is confidence and there is overconfidence, as you may have heard:

“Captain, there is an emergency!” called out the First Officer.  A bright light loomed dead ahead;  a collision seemed imminent.  The captain got on the radio on the common frequency.

“This is the USS Nimitz.  Make way!”

“No can do,” came the answer back.  The light did not change course.

  “Exasperated, the captain shouted, “This the Carrier Nimitz, the largest vessel afloat.  Make way, I say!”

The voice responded, “And this is the Grand Point Lighthouse.  Your call.”

Never forget where you are and who you are talking to.  When you reach out to your audience, you can’t bluff them.  Become a fresh voice!

 

You know what you want: success.  So decide what you want in concrete terms and write it down, exactly.

Set a deadline for achieving your goal.  Or rather, set specific deadlines for achieving your goals!  So for now, make a list of everything you need to do to achieve your goals.  Organize your list.  Shuffle the items and flesh out the list into something resembling a PLAN.  That is, first task first, second task listed second, and so on.

Admire your list handiwork for a second, then TAKE ACTION ON YOUR PLAN immediately.

Do something everyday to achieve your major goal.  Never miss a day.  Blog, jog, have some grog.  Go throw a bow.  Action.

Writing out your list of goals, short term and long term is action.  If you have not done this, please do it now.

Having a written list of goals is like having a college education: those that have it make a lot more money than those who don’t.

But if you did not finish college, not to worry.  You can make up for what you missed by trying harder.  If you did finish college, you also need to try harder because of the increased competition out there and the difficult economic circumstances we find ourselves in today.

Hey, try harder is a good plan for anybody, especially you…and me!

Temporay failure always proceeds success.  No one starts from success.  They achieve it through hard work and effort over time.

If you want to be successful quicker, double your failure rate.  Buying more software to store on your hard drive is not failure.  It is just wasting time…and money.

WRITE DOWN ALL YOUR OBSTACLES so you can see what you are up against.

Then the solutions will be obvious.

You will experience success and rise in life in relation to your ability to SOLVE PROBLEMS.  Problem is a skill that needs to be practiced.

Typically, most of lack concrete, realistic goals and a simple plan to achieve them.

In the internet marketing field, people want results.  Period.  They don’t want theory or pizazz, although that usually helps.  They want a product or service that can help them make money!

So build, buy or borrow a list.  Convert this list of leads into customers by offering them great products.  And always, Delight your customers with exceptional services and exceptional products.

Never get discouraged.  Just keep plugging away, and accomplish each step one at a time.

Our thoughts are simple self-fulfilling prophecies!

So think of your buiness as an super personal growth activity.  This is your chance to make an impact on a global scale!

As an internet marketer, your job is to turn people on; to entertain them and educate them.

Business gives you the opportunity to become the very best that you can become.

It is your path to personal freedom.

Which means:

Create a list of Actions for today, week, month, year, 5 year.

Assign each action a start time and an end time.

Do the action!

We are all desperate to maximize our efficiency!  To be efficient, you must really use your to-do lists as an engine that drives your productivity!

To make your list system work for you, follow these 8 guidelines:

1. Make and /or review your daily list each night before.

2. Have several lists ideally, a daily, weekly, monthly, 1 year, 5 year.  Have your daily list on one page and update it throughout the day.  Redo it each night on a clean sheet for tomorrow, and discard the old one at end of day.

3. Use columns.  Make a second page with four wide columns across the top: 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, 5 year, so you are always thinking about your goals and directing all your efforts to achieve them.  This is THE WAY to make money.  Lots of it, too!

4. Prioritize your lists.  Make your daily list chronological by hour, 7am to 7pm, top to bottom.  Give each task an END TIME too!

5. Follow your list, but don’t become tied to it.  Be flexible.

6. List tasks, but list Projects too.  Projects are your most important topics.  Give End Dates to Projects.

7.  Focus on results, not actions.

8.  Learn from your list.  Create it, add to it, review it, delete from it, all as you go.  Make it serve you!

 

 

A great relationship with your herd will multiply your customer list times 2, or even 20!

How?  By generating referrals.  A referral is your best new customer.  They are expected to buy.  They are happy to be admitted to the club.  They have little skepticism and are more easily sold to and are happy with what they get.

How can you generate referrals?  you have to earn them.  Walt Disney put it this way, “Do what you do so well that people can’t resist telling others about you.”

Another example as reported by Dan Kennedy is a dentist that caters to children who came up with 300 things to improve his practice, after a seminar on creative thinking.

This dentist redesigned his office to make it really comfortable for the ‘short people’ who came there.  He lowered the reception staff into a pit behind the counter, so they were at eye level with his little patients.

He hung big photographs of each dentist and dental assistant on the wall along with descriptions of each’s hobbies and interests, so the little patients could pick their dentist and assistant based on which ones they had the most in common with.

He gave away bicycles, free!  Each patient got a home care follow up Report Card for their parents to fill out.  If the Report Card came back to the dentist with all A’s, the kid got a bicycle.  Imagine the child riding around the neighborhood on their new bike and people asking, “Where did you get that new bike?”  And they answered, “My dentist.”

The dentist called each new patient at home the night after a treatment, to see how they were feeling.  And he called the parent the day after too.

Every new patient left their first appointment with an autographed 8 x 10 glossy of the their dentist and their dental assistant!

Soon this dentist’s habits were the hot topic at all the neighborhood lunches and meetings.  How many referrals was that?

What to talk to your list about?

How can communication start?

The USS Nimitz aircraft carrier radar operator reported to the captain, “Radar reporting vessel dead ahead.”

The captain got on the radio on the common frequency, “This is the captain of the USS Nimitz, give way.”

“No can do,” came the reply.

“This is the captain of the USS Nimitz, the largest vessel afloat.  Give way, I say!  That’s an order!”

Came back the reply, “And this is the Grand Point Lighthouse.  Your call!”

We might have to jump through hoops to establish good communication, but it is so worth it to take the time to do so!

What I am talking about is that everybody in marketing is building a list of subscribers that are interested in their particular niche.  We do this order to provide them with the best products and services available.   You want to market to your list, of course!  And hopefully, you will be always building a relationship to that list that is absolutely awesome.  Don’t settle for anything less!

What do you talk to your list about to start and maintain this bonding?  Advanced, expert marketers call this list a “herd”, a group to be taken care of, managed, nourished, with the idea that it will grow in size.  And as any owner of a herd expects, you will be rewarded well for your efforts if your efforts are really the best for the herd!

So what can you talk to your herd about, as opposed to sending them a constant stream of not really too attractive affiliate offers?

Philosophically speaking, you need to talk about ideas specific to the core of the relationship, trends, great info, hints, how to instruction, motivational material, and lots of stuff they are really looking for.  More tomorrow.  Have some great conversations today.

Every day when wake up to face another beautiful day of this wonderful life, let us count our blessings for being alive!

If it is Monday through Friday, we also go to work, typically.  If we want to work as internet marketers, we need to do only 3 things.  Yes, only 3 things.

First, we need leads, people to sell our products and services to.  We can get these leads from buying advertising, from people landing on our blog pages somehow, either from clicking on results from organic searches or following links from forums, other blogs, or articles, forum posts, recommendations, links in articles, and mentions somewhere.  There are a kazillion sources for traffic.

Second, we must use honest, transparent marketing and salesmanship to convert these leads we have attracted into customers.  We do this by presenting our high quality products and services to them in a way that helps them see, “Yes, that is what I want!”

We show our prospects what we have and explain what it will do for them.  Then we urge them to take action, to buy!

Third, we only sell stuff that is high quality and provides high value to the customer.  In short, we aim to delight and amazing our customers.

If my coaching customer has a gorgeous blog up and running in a week, they will be amazed, perhaps ecstatic!  If they have a working optin popup and are sending out a free report after six weeks of struggle, wow,  they are going to be happily building their list.

If you can do these three things well, congratulations!  You have achieved what more than half of the people who want to make money online have not been able to achieve!  Most people don’t know how to generate leads from advertising, don’t know how to converts leads into customers, and aren’t particularly concerned about delighting their customers.  If that is the case, they are not going to make money online.
